Match report Fives drew against Colchester in what was a tough game in which they struggled to overcome Colchester's huge total of 284-8. Fives won the toss and elected to chase on a road of a pitch which was not offering much to the bowlers. Although all the bowlers tried their hardest, the pick of the bowlers was the youngest Rehan Iqbal at 15 who only in his second ever game for the seconds managed 2 fine spells of bowling to further illustrate what a promising player he is. Daniel Platt bowled well as he continues to gain experience and confidence bowling leg spin. It should also be noted that another young player Ben Lloyd who was drafted into the side on Friday night kept well in his first ever game for the second eleven.

Chasing such a huge total was never going to be easy for Fives with the clock against them. Although Fives got off to a reasonable start with Phillip Apps continuing his good early season form with 62, knowone else was able to contribute hugely to the total as the run rate was nearing 8 going into the last hour. Although there was a the traditional Fives batting collapse, it was to left to the youth again of Ben Lloyd and Rehan Iqbal to play out the last 7 or 8 overs with fielders surrounding them to see Fives hang on for the draw.

Although the struggle continues, it was good to see an improvement on the previous week and also good to see some of Fives's younger players shine through this difficult period at the moment.
