Match report On a very nice sunny Saturday Fives first eleven lost the toss and were put into bat in the midday heat. Gary Edwards and Glenn Jackson made a very good start before Jackson was unfortunately dismissed for 20. The Fives captain Simon Fitzgerald went in and supported Gary on his way to a very well played 50 before Fitzy was dismissed for 28. Aussie Ben Maher went in and supported Gary who went on to get a well earned 101 and hopefully found some permanant good form for the season. Maher got a quick 51* while being supported first by Mordrick after the dismissal of Gary Edwards and then further by Chris White to take Fives to an excellent score of 279-4 in 66 overs scoring over 100 runs in the last 12 overs. Hainault and Clayhall got off to a slow start allowing Brendan Smith, the up and coming star bowler for Fives, to get 5 maidens out of his first spell of 6. Wickets didn't fall easily at first for the Fives bowlers with the two Hainault openers Y. Patel and A. Ahmed gaining 63 and 84 respectively before both being caught. Hainaults middle order struggled to face down the Fives attack and at one point Fives were hopeful of bowling out the visitors and gaining their second win of the season. However, victory was not to be gained so easily and D. McEwan and S. Naqvi manage to add more runs in the last overs of the day to secure a win.
