Match report Ilford won the toss and elected to bat. Coleman was unlucky not to get an early breakthrough. Ilford openers seemed to find their groove and started to score at about 6 an over. Replacing both seemers with Harding and Wheeler stopped the scoring and produced several wickets. Only Castle with 53 not out looked at home against the excellent spin twins. Fives bowled their overs in 2 hours 22 minutes which left ample time for Fives to knock them off. Great running between O'mahoney and Braithwaite saw fives race to 50 with the rain getting heavy. Braithwaite was bowled round his legs for a well made 38, Britton came and went and O'mahoney soon followed. Fives were reeling a touch at 60-3. Gordon Whorlow and Ian Rotsey batted superbly together to take fives to within twenty runs of victory until Rotsey trying to beat the rain was caught for a fine 57. A couple of heaves from Andy Coleman saw fives home with some 15 overs to spare, Gordon Whorlow again showed his class with a cultured inings of 47 not out. Fives really are up for a shot a the title now. Big test on saturday against a strong Loughton side could go some way to deciding where the title goes this year.
