Scorecard

Hornchurch v Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI on Sat 03 May 2003 at 1-30pm
Match was Drawn

Match report Playing a Hornchurch away Fives put on a much better display of batting, although a few early wickets were lost by C. Drum's bowling with a new ball, Ben Maher and Terry Ballard soon built up a fine partnership. With this setting the Fievs attack in motion they reached an acceptable score of 218 off 49 overs. Ben Maher's innings of 68 off 72 balls in 104 minutes must not go unmentioned and neither must the up and coming star, Brendom Smith's innings of 41 off 47 balls looking in good form before unfortunately falling to C. Drum. The Fives bowling attack also bought some early wickets against Hornchurch before they slowed down and the game became one of trying to stay awake as Hornchurch went for the draw. Although the Fives attack couldn't yield 10 wickets Hornchurch's middle batting order started to crumble just a little too late. A vast improvement all round....
