Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Won by 12 runs

Match report A very gritty and determined performance with bat and ball saw us through to a 5th win in a row. Having been put in to bat on a very poor pitch we were indebted to a resolute performance by Mikey Thompson who opened and was last man out after two and a half hours of skilfull defence decorated with 10 well struck boundaries. With the ball flying and shooting in a capricious manner the only other batter to last more than 24 minutes was the captain who eventually lost patience and holed out with our notional 150 target just out of reach.
Our opening pace attack produced some very good balls but failed to maintain the required accuracy so we switched to Portia and Uncle Yaz. This put a brake on the scoring and brought a couple of wickets but Old Parks batted very well reaching 100 just 4 down, two batters well settled and wih plenty of overs in hand. A succession of bowling changes unsettled the batsmen and wickets started to fall as they closed in on what still looked a probable win. With Uncle Yaz bowled out (6 for 36 off 14 following his 5 last week) and Old Parks last pair inching their way towards the win it fell to yound Ismael Chheena to take the last wicket with a brilliant throw from square leg crashing into the middle of the stumps at the bowlers end to secure a narrow victory.
