Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Lost

Match report The first and hopefully last L of the season came against the top side in the league on a very hot day and a difficult wicket. After loosing the toss Fives were put into bat and found the going hard early on being reduced to 5 for 2 early on. Charles and myself steadied the ship and grinded with well fought 20's to get us back in the game at 20 overs. Small partnerships came and went until Joe stepped up and battled fives to 191 off their 45 with a well hit 72 not out.

Fives stated well with a Charles Allen finally managing to snare a catch and good run out meaning Horndon were on the back foot early on. Much like our innings though 3 and 4 began to grind them back into the game with ou bowlers always allowing them 1 or 2 loose balls each over to put Horndon on the front foot. Good bowling performances from Bal and Tanzeel meant breakthroughs made it difficult for Horndon but even though Fives made it tough they stuttered over the line to win it with 4 balls to go.

Ultimately this is likely to be the best side we face this year but I have every faith that we will be back to our absolute best next week. Onwards and upwards and finally the beard gets a trim.
