Scorecard

Wanstead Tigers v Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Under 11 on Wed 16 May 2012 at 6pm
Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets

Match report Charles won the toss and put Wanstead in to bat. The pitch was like a pudding and even a well pitched ‎up ball would only bounce to mid-calf height. Wanstead set off with gusto – a 4 and a single off Charles’ ‎opening over. It was the only boundary of Wanstead’s innings. Their total contribution from the bat was ‎‎15 runs. We gave away 15 wides (30 runs), and 1 bye. Everyone bowled. The stand out bowlers were ‎Viraj 1 for 5 off 3 overs, Charles 0 for 6 off 3 overs and Finley who bowled exceptionally well with 1 for 0 ‎off 3 overs.

We fielded very well, Patrick was tight behind the stumps ( with only one bye) and Viraj’s ‎early strike, dismissing their opener caught and bowled set us up nicely. Wanstead’s ‎total made the run chase look well within our grasp.‎

Shaan and Finley opened the batting knowing they would only get a couple of overs before Steve (manager) ‎gave another pair a bat. Shaan got stuck in and wacked a 4 off the second ball and then a quick single. ‎Their next bowler was accurate and pitched the ball up, Shaan was bowled by one that kept low. George ‎joined Finley and no runs came off the bat but we had 17 runs after 4 overs. Niall replaced Finley (retired) ‎and got a couple of singles. George retired and Charles went in and hit a 4; we were 25 runs off 6 overs. ‎Charles went for a quick single but was run out (a very close call). Viraj was next to bat. We picked up a 6 ‎from a wide that went to the boundary. Our target was now very close. Patrick was next to bat. He hit two ‎‎2s and a single then retired. Joseph was bowled by another low bounce then Harry went in. The low ‎bounce didn’t seem to worry Harry who struck the ball beautifully for a 2 and a single. With the scores ‎tied at 46 Harry pulled the next ball for what looked like a certain 4, right off the middle of the bat, only to ‎pick out a fielder who took a fantastic catch. Viraj went back in but was not required to score as a wide ‎sealed our victory.‎

Well done to everyone and thanks to the Mums and Dads for their support.‎
