Match report ‎ ‎
Upminster batted first and did everything well. They ran quick singles without hesitation and pressurised ‎our fielders. We could not contain them and they scored more freely as the innings went on. One of their ‎openers retired on 35. We were below par in the field compared to what we can do.
‎ ‎
Shaan Ullah and Oliver Cross opened the batting. A quick single took Ollie into strike but unfortunately he was bowled; ‎George Neale came in but was run out. The pattern didn’t change – we lost Harry caught, Connor bowled, ‎Patrick run out, all for 0. Shaan was managing to score but our running and calling was very much below our usual high standard – Shaan ‎was 22 when he too was run out. Adam batted and ran well; he had a short partnership with Nyle. Adam ‎was out for 8, Nyle for 2. Finley was not out for 1 at the end with both Sid (8 years of old) and Jai (8 years of old) having been bowled ‎for 0 – unfortunately they had faced a very accurate fast bowler who took 4 for 7 off 2 overs.‎

We tried very hard but were facing a team of older boys in an established team. We had several young ‎players in our team and had to draft Connor in at the very last minute to make up the team numbers – ‎thank you to Connor for making the effort and working hard all evening.‎

A disappointing result but a great learning experience for everyone. We saw a very well drilled team in ‎action and at times held our own – next time…..‎but credit to the opposition for a very professional display
