Match report Fives won the toss and batted in drizzle which persisted through most of the game. A brisk start was curtailed when the skipper played too early yet again to be caught at deep mid on. Graham Cammish, sporting an Everton shirt and Arsenal socks (to the dismay of Steve Poulter) used his strength to great advantage to score a powerful maiden 50 ably supported by the diminutive figure of Jake Poulter - Little and Large personified! Weak batting by the middle order was rescued by Adam Peters and Spoult adding a rapid 68 unbroken for the 7th wicket. Despite the plaintive pleading of Adam for "just 2 more overs," a declaration at 37 overs maximised the bowling time, a sensible precaution in the prevailing weather.

Young Michael Knapton showed his continuing improvement, taking the new ball and picking up 4 wickets in his first 5 overs. At the other end, Spoult was proving very difficult to handle and when the extra bounce provided by his height resulted in a painful blow to one of the opposition's youngsters he was removed from the attack having taken 2 for 6 from 4 overs. The remaining four batters were removed by spin twins Boblet and Irfan picking up two each to close the innings after just 26 overs. This was a good win against a team who had beaten us earlier in the season. Noteworthy points:
