Match report Fives and Heronians 1st XI gained their second win in a row (to place them above Hainault and Clayhall and out of the relegation zone) on a windy Saturday. Supported as always by Swash, Fives lost the toss and were sent in to bat. Despite losing two early wickets Edwards and Beazleigh started looking soild putting on 47 before Beazleigh was cuaght on 39. Fives middle order played well losing first Edwards, then Jackson, before Stevens and Pettet put together a good scoring partnership. A slight mix up caused Stevens to be run out with Fives on 120-6 after 43 overs. The tail-end palyed well with Coleman scoring a quick 11 placing Fives in the position of 163 a.o. off 62.5 overs.
Hainault and Clayhall went out to bat looking strong until Mordrick struck with his first wicket of five dismissing Bopara and Clark dismissed the other opener next over leaving Hainault and Clayhall on 24-2 off 12. A stand was set up between Y. Patel and A. Ahmed until tea. After tea the Fives bowlers played with renewed vigour with Beazleigh and Mordrick keeping the bowling tight. Mordrick, Pettet and Beazleigh kept the wickets coming and Hainault and Clayhall started looking in big trouble at 84-6 off 42. Pettet got his second wicket soon after and most hope of a draw was removed when Mordrick struck again dismissing both the Ismail and Bhardwaj in the same over. Hainault and Clayhall played well but Fives fielding won the day with the last batsmen being run out giving Fives victory by 47 runs.
