Match report Good fortune with the toss allowed Fives to insert Brentwood at Warley Park on slow and mottled surface. Saul Foulds, released from Saturday duties at Forest School, opened briskly from one end without much luck while at the other end Richie Charlton struggled to overcome the excesses of the previous evening. Matt Surrey relieved the ailing Charlton and bowled a tidy spell removing the dangerous Chris Dann and hitting the stumps twice. Wickets were chiselled out slowly, and after sun and fresh air revived Charlton he replaced Foulds for a much better second spell ending with 3 for 31. Held up by a stubborn 9th wicket partnership, Fives turned to spin twins Maddison and Speller but a slow wicket and dogged defence kept the 4th's leading wicket takers at bay. A return to Foulds (3 for 17) and Surrey (3 for 16) quickly demolished the last two wickets leaving Fives a target of 106 to win. Catching was excellent with Maddo holding a couple of sharp ones at first slip. A target of 106, even on a slow pitch, was never going to stretch Fives and in the event Thurston (50n.o.) and Franklin (43n.o.) cruised to a ten wicket victory in 26 overs.
