Match report On the first hard wicket of the season Buckhurst Hill took first use of another excellent strip at the Chigs with the intention oif collecting maximum batting points. Despite starting two short, Fives had other ideas. A tight opening attack of the senior Surry and Ritchie Charlton held the Hill in check after which repeated bowling changes prevented the batsmen settling. The first breakthrough came in the 26th over with the score on 73 when the ever dependable Bob Speller induced a loose shot from one of the openers which was plucked from the sky by Commander Greene impersonating Nureyev at his most athletic. The skipper's three overs off a two step run-up to increase the over rate resulted in two quick wickets after which a total of eight bowlers gradually removed the remaining batsmen by the 52nd over. A total of 169 was never going to extend a strong batting line-up and after the early loss of a wicket the Surry father and son combination saw Fives home by 9 wickets with 19 overs to spare.
