Match report Fives lost the toss and were surprisiongly inserted on the hottest day of the year against the third placed side in the League. Quicl early runs from skipper Rotsey were followed by a peruiod on consolidation by the Surrys, father and son. Paul gradually opened up and we had the unexpected pleaseure of seeing the miserly Mocock removed from theb attack after conceding 39 from just 6 overs. Belated acceleration from Mathew after reacjing a 2hr 11 min 50 brought a further 29 from 34 balls for a 79* and a new record partnership for any wicket in the 4th team of 196 before Paul preished on the long on boundary in the last over .

Ardleigh Green with 3 hours to bat started briskly making 42 at a run a minute before Jerry pauw bowled one of the openers. When Delboy Maddison took a wicketin the nest over that was surprisingly the signal for Ardleigh Green to shut up shop. Devoid of ambition and despite very attacking fields they scraped their way to 126 for 6 off 57 overs to secure just 2 points from the match when with a little more effort another 2 batting points could have been gathered. Fives took 10 points to remain 6 clear at the Top of the table with three to play.
