Match report Fives won the toss and opted to bat on a sweltering day. We found ourselves 47 for 2 off 6 overs with a fast scoring outfield. Matt Adcock departed for a quickfire 26 leaving us 61 for 3 off 10 with 42 overs to bat. Adrian 'tino' Palmer then literally smashed the ball to all parts for arguably one of, if not the most brutal third team innings I have had the pleasure of watching. Fives were 180 for 4 off 24 overs. Young Pete Kilpatrick then joined Navs (44) who had been batting at 3 watching Tino, to work the ball around against a deflated Hornchuch for a well constructed 27. Steve Adcock came in at 7 and scored a 20 odd ball 47 leaving Fives to declare on a mammoth 303 for 7 off 47 at 3.58pm. Sooty took the new ball and in his first over bowled a leg stump full toss which was hit very hard to Kish at square leg. Kish taking an excellent catch and providing Michael Knapton with competition for catch of the season. Tino and Sooty bowled in tandem and Sooty took regular wickets, with the ground fielding and catching superb (even the skipper clung onto one). Hornchuch were never in it and subsided to 115 all out at just gone 6.00pm with Matt Adcock chipping in with a couple of wickets towards the end. Sooty took another 6 wickets with a masterclass of spin/slow bowling.
Our best performance of the season and the skipper will be expecting this standard of cricket for the rest of the season.
