Match report Fives lost the toss on the hottest day of the season so far and were asked to field. Sooty and Tino opened the bowling and assisted by some sound ground fielding (special mention to Rohan on his third team debut who ran out danger man Mahmood) and catching we restricted Chelmsford to 120 for 4 off 26 overs. However, their skipper and lower middle order batted very well and Chelmsford made 254 for 7 off their alloted 52 overs. Navs taking 3 wickets and bowling a very tidy spell in the last 20 overs. It was a very good effort by Fives in the field in sweltering conditions as we came off at 3.48pm. Jacko making another rare appearance in the 3s opened the batting and smote 73 off 39 balls (5x6) which took Fives to 97 for 1 off 12 overs. Chris Campbell and Pete Kilpatrick then consolidated in taking Fives to 139 off 22 overs before Pete played accross the line to fall LBW. A hungover Matt Adcock came in at 4 and swung the willow with intent as he made a 39 ball 56. This left Tino and Chris Apps to bat sensibly and see Fives home to an important 4 wicket victory after a mini wobble with 10 overs still left to bat. An excellent performance after fielding first in the afternoon heat as Fives remain top of the table with a 6 point lead over 2nd placed Hutton and an 18 point lead over third placed Chelmsford with all to play for with 8 games left.
