Match report Fives won the toss in humid conditions and opted to bowl on a green looking wicket. Tino bowled well and was unlucky not get more than one wicket. Del bowled first change and reeled off 21 overs with good control. The fielding and catching wasnt as good as it has been and Ardleigh Green ammassed 209 for 4 off 52 0vers which was about 30 above par.
Fives reply got off to a terrible start as we found ourselves 9 for 2 and it was left to Spoult and Neary to consolidate after lsoing two further wickets for not many. We needed 120 off the last 20 with 6 wickets in hand, but the skipper ran himself out and Spoult gradually ran out of partners but did make an excellent 53 under the circumstances. Ardleigh Green ran out deserved winners, as they abtted and bowled better than us. It was a dissapointing performance but poor availability doesnt help and it is to be hoped we can pick up next week when players return. Thanks to John Lucas and Ed Neary who came in at short notice and prevented us from playing with 9
