Match report The second team took on Brentwood on Saturday afternoon in our first league game of the season in what turned out to be a very competitive and hard fought win by 6 wickets in what has been a very testing week trying to get eleven players. Having won the toss i elected to field first and tight bowling from both Faizal Shah and Addison as well as some outstanding ground fielding particularly from Neary helped keep the run rate down and and pressurise their batsmen in the early stages. This pressure soon told as the first change bowlers of Hall and Palmer grabbed three wickets each to put Fives in firm control. I then finished of the tail to restrict Brentwood to 173ao. Chasing a fairly modest total Fives began steady and the opening partnership of Neary and Braithwaite battled away taking a few hits on the body from their lively opening attack to see of the new ball. After this partnership was broken the game was lit up by a very entertaining innings of 55 from Rana Shahbaz who was only playing his second game for Fives having recently joined us as our second overseas player. It was left to young Jack Swash who played a very mature innings and Faizal Shah who also played sensibly to see the lads home.

In conclusion a great win and start to our league campaign under the circumstances. Everyone contributed and worked hard in what was a fantastic team effort.
