Match report Fives drew against Colchester on Saturday in what turned out to be a slightly frustrating display by the side. Fives fielded with ten men( 8 teenagers) for the majority of Colchester's innings and to their credit gave it their all to make up for the man short who was also the opening bowler. The side had an unfamiliar look to it with a number of familiar faces missing. It was the most experienced member of the team Andrew Coleman who took on the role of captaincy at very short notice who opened the bowling and along with Palmer, Lawes and Bhome bowled steady enough to leave Colchester at one stage on a total of 161-5 of 44 overs. However the final 8 overs were rather disappointing and swung the game Colchester's way with 86 runs coming from the final 8 overs, leaving Colchester on 247-7 of 52.

In reply Fives were always going to struggle against a tough run rate of about 5/6 an over. Each time a batsmen looked set for a score they were dismissed. Fives finished on 210-8. Top score was from the skipper Reggie Coleman(42).

In what has been a difficult week Fives finished with 7 points again to relinquish top spot in the table to Saffron who they play next week in what is now a crucial top of the table clash. Wanstead are also very much in the frame with 6 games of the season to go.
