Match report A good performance against a side challenging for the league title.

Won the toss and elected to field despite only starting with 9 players (again).
Ted Connell bowled very well and deserved better than his 2 for 29 from 12 overs. All credit to the fielders who stuck manfully to the job despite football posts in the outfield and 10 feet high metal railings which stopped 6 inches from the ground allowing the ball to go under. Needless to say the gates were locked so many balls were lost. GP&R declared at 237 from 50 overs.

This was a daunting task but with nothing to lose the side elected to go for the runs against one of the best bowling sides in the leugue. The start was not overproductive in the way of runs but after 3/4 of an hour the run chase started in earnest. Kula again threw his bat at anything within reach and made 54 in an hour. Tony Teece, Tim Nash and Tim Murphy (with one of the biggest sixes which cleared metal fence, path, ditch etc) continued the run chase with useful contributions. Even Roger Braithwaite deposited a huge 6 in the final over but the target was just out of reach and we finished 10 runs short.

The club must seriously consider the implications of using this particular venue in September - it was far from satisfactory.
