Match report Fives lost the toss and were asked to field first, starting with 10 men as Nick Tester was on his way to the ground from the airport having enjoyed 3 hours sleep on the last night of his holiday! A steady start was made by made by Mark and Haroon while one of the Chelmsford openers rode his luck, placing numerous lobs just out of the reach of fielders. The introduction of Rehan proved short-lived as he pulled a muscle after only two tidy overs and it was left to new boy Sanjay Prabakhar to make the breakthrough with a high-ish full toss onto the leg bail. Wickets were gradually prised out and from 134-2 in the 30th over - on target for 230-250 - Chelmsford were dismissed for 185 in 43 overs with the late-arriving Nick taking 4-13 and obeying the skippers perrenial advice (bowl straight, they miss, you hit) to good effect, clean bowling three, although the first one did bounce twice!!!

The Fives reply got off to a brisk start of 35 for the first wicket in 7 overs leaving 44 overs for the next 151 - a reasonable task at Old Chigs despite some crumbling of the top surface. Ricky Reynolds rose to the occasion magnificently scoring a patient 61 off 30 overs without ever looking in trouble. Energetic efforts by Rotsey and Tester at the other end took Fives close but when Nick and then Ricky went in quick succession in the 43rd over with only half a dozen wanted, it suddenly seemed possible that we could yet snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. However, a calmly struck straight drive for 4 by Mark secured the points with 8 overs remaining.

Man of the Match: Ricky Reynolds - Graham Thorpe type innings of 61 to hold the side together, a wicket with his first ball and another excellent slip catch made to look easy.
