Match report This was an important game against the runaway League Champions-elect with the whole Fives team up for it. After unfortunately losing the toss and being asked to bat first Fives planned to set a target of 225. Steady progress managed by Clive and the Commander took us to 100 for 2 in the 30th over, nicely on target, but a couple of quick wickets changed the picture. Ricky Reynolds now assumed the anchor role batting with a maturity beyond his 16 years while the hitters, Rotsey with 29 from 18 balss and Tim Murphy with 25 from 25, accelerated the scoring rate. A total of 215-8 on a slow wicket and long outfield was about par and soon looked even better as Haroon and Uncle Yaseen with a couple of wickets each reduced Hainault & Clayhall to 19 for 4 in the 12th over. Several bowling changes and a total of seven bowlers did not manage to dislodge the obdurate H&C skipper, determined to manitain his unbeaten record this season, who batted though 110 balls for 18 n.o. to secure the draw. Honourable mention must go to Haroon who completeed two lengthy spells to finish with 4 for 42 off 21 overs, many of those runs coming through the somewhat leaky slip cordon.
