Match report Needing 20 points (and an improbable 3 or less from Chelmsford) for promotion, Fives won the toss and duly batted first. An excellent opening partnership of 86 in 16 overs was on track for the 275+ required on the small pitch at Woodford Wells but the loss of 3 wickets in 5 overs meant some consolidation was needed. With Haroon restraining his natural attacking instincts to place the ball deftly, Jeremy was able to play with increasing authority as he headed for his maiden century, eventually perishing in the final run chase for 131. An early declaration left Upminster the very modest target of 244 from 51 overs on a ground where one side made 390 the previous week. Unfortunately they exhibited a total lack of ambition with their captain, first while batting and then when umpiring, admonishing any player who played an attacking shot and urging them just to "stay there." A total of 9 bowlers were used but unfortunatly six catches went down delaying a breakthrough. Taking the new ball in drier condition at the start of the last 20 overs brought a couple of wickets for Siraj and one for his Dad but eventually bad light stopped play 8 overs early denting Fives hopes of ending the season with a win.

It was very pleasing to see excellent performances from two youngsters with Siraj's smooth and effective fast bowling following Jeremy's maiden hundred. This capped a really good second half to the season. After 8 games, Fives were in 8th place with 65 points. To finish equal third on 224 points with 8 wins from 19 games showed great resilience coming from a true team spirit.
