Scorecard

Coggeshall v Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Indoor League Over 40s on Fri 18 Nov 2005 at 9pm
Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Lost 1 wicket

Match report F&H won the toss and elected to bat. 13 was struck in a positive 1st over. The skipper was unlucky to be run out in the 2nd over for one. Stan then went cheaply. Mark and JT came together to steady the ship before JT retired in the 4th over (40 -2 off 5 overs). Graham was then bowled. Derek hung around to good effect. The innings then finished with a flourish. 70 runs after 8 overs, 80 after 9 overs and 96 innings closed. Excellent batting from JT and Mark although they would have preferred more boundaries than 3's!!

In reply Coggeshall made a good start and were well up with the run rate. The maxim of catches wins matches was never truer as both openers were missed. It was the introduction of the skipper in to the attack with flight and guile that induced a mini-collapse. The Coggeshall opener and skipper however continued to bat solidly and saw his side home with 2 balls to spare in the final over (57*). A close game that we should have won. On to next weeks 8pm start.
