Match report A poor performance from Fives A team saw them crash out of the Essex Finals at the semi final stage.
Batting 1st Fives struggled against the swinging new ball & were 6 for 1 off 2 overs. Gary & Ben set about rebuilding the innings but at the half way stage of the innings Fives were still below the run rate. Both managed to retire on 25 which allowed the incoming batsman to take more risks. Fives managed to score 31 off the final 2 overs ending on a par score of 122 off their alloted 12 overs. Gary finishing 37 not out.
In reply Braintree struggled early on just as Fives did against a moving ball. However, Fives bowlers had an off day bowling too many wides as Braintree began to pick up momentum. Poor fielding also cost Fives as Braintree reached the target with an over to spare.
A dissapointing end but Fives now need to concentrate on defending their league title for the 3rd year in succession
