Match report Fives ended the season with a 10 wicket defeat against Loughton to see them get relegated. Fives needed to take 20 points and also rely on Saffron not winning in order to survive. Fives lost the toss and were asked to bat and got off to a steady start and were looking well set at 87-2 after 26 overs. However a combination of tighter bowling, a few balls keeping low and some sloppy shots meant Fives were all out for 153 in the 50th over.The only noteable contribution was from Neil Brathwaite who made 50.

In reply Fives were always going to struggle to defend a total of just 153, particularly as Loughton had ages to get the runs and also they had some high quality players who were more use to playing first team rather than second eleven cricket. Fives had no answer to Duncan Richards and Gareth James who got the 153 required in 21 overs.

In conclusion this was a bad season for the seconds and certainly one to forget. Although everyone tried their best the simple fact is the team did not perform to the level they are capable of. Hopefully they can pick themselves up and start again next year in Division 1 and get back in the Premier straight away.
