Match report “A great match played and won with Great team sprit” – Opponents skipper’s statement.
The top of the league opponents who yet to loose a match has lost to Fives. (I have to mention that the 1st league match against them was washed out due to rain).
Chelmsford won the toss and as expected elected to Bat. Scored 259 for 6 on the fantastic old Chigs track letting fives to chase the acceptable run rate. Haider bowled very well to pick 4 wickets with his twist and turns.
As Fives had a good batting side with 10 Batsman, Skipper Kula had to chip and chop the batting order to make sure everyone gets the game and win the game. Skipper had a pep talk prior to the match with only 6 words (We need to win the match).
Fives were tied down with some fantastic spin attack by the opponents. One of the spinners took 6 for 30 in his first spell. (His second spell cost him 0 for 62!!). Fives entered the last 20 over requiring scoring 132 runs with 3 wickets in hand.
Our normal No 3 batsman Haider was put on to bat at No 9 scored 67 runs while the best reliable middle order batsman Rob Allum (scored 63 no) won the match with a hugh six.(trust me he did hit a six!!). Haider departed the pitch with 37 runs remaining to score in 4 over with 2 wickets in hand giving an opportunity for Kula and Rob to finish the match with hugh sixes and fours.
Overall this is a performance that was put by the team and won by the team sprit.
