Match report Fives 2nd Eleven started the season with a 4 run loss at Hertford in what was a very entertaining game. After winning the toss Fives decided to have a field and make the most of having the early afternoon sun on their backs. Eight bowlers were used in total in an attempt to give most people a bit of early season practice and most showed no rustiness bowling a tight length and line. Ricky Reynolds who has changed over the winter from spin to medium pace bowled steady enough swinging the ball about causing the oppo a few problems early on. Daniel Platt a new recruit to Fives bowled well with his leg spin and also fielded extremely well showing great enthusiasm. Other highlights were Harding rolling back the years to claim 4-13 and Ben Knott keeping tidely behind the stumps. All in all Fives done well in the field restricting Hertford to 178-7 dec.

In reply most of the batsmen contributed in getting near Hertford's score with 20's or so. Although a little disappointing in not winning, at this stage of the season it is all about getting the rust out and giving everyone a game, so it was a worthwhile workout for both sides. Fives finished 4 short with only 4 balls to go in a tense finish.
