Match report With a Saturday morning drop out (meaning we played with 10 men), two called up from the fourths and the first team opening bowler playing as a batsman, Fives were up against it from the start. We were put in and to a man, every batsman applied himself as we posted 202 for 8 on a 170 track which had uneven bouce, with the ball often rising off a length. OJ (making a welcome return to the form he is capable of), Bacon and new recruit Fahd all reached 30 odd. Tino opened the bowling and bowled very sharp mixing his length from a good length to short balls at the throat as Upminster were rattled, a few Upminster batsman taking a blows to the body as they slumped to 42 for 4 with Ben offering no let up at the other end. Roger and Sooty (4 for 26) came into the fray 1st and 2nd change as Upminster wilted under the 10 man Fives onslaught as only the Upminster skipper offered any resistance. Special mention to Keith who took 3 catches and set the standard with a hard faught knock at the top of the order.
Ben Bacon came back for a caught and bowled to finish things off. With strong availability in the higher sides, there is healthy competition for places in the 3s at the moment which will help push the side up the league.
