Match report F & H batted first at the Whitbread ground on a strip being used for the third time in a row. Shahrukh opened with Graham Sibley in contrasting styles and after Graham's departure, Haider entered to make his usual robust contribution at 3. New boy Asim looked all at sea when he first came in but gradually improved and ended striking the ball well. Young Ashish showed great presence at 6 running well between the wickets and taking us to 221 in the 50th over.

Uriel, skipper in Atul's absence, opened the bowling with Shahrukh and Jag's off breaks. Billericay's openers took a muscular approach and the score was soon rattling along. Several bowling changes were tried and eventually Ali took two in two balls to give us the breakthrough. Thanks to several dropped catches, Billericay were well placed going in to the last 20 wanting 92 with 8 wickets in hand. Excellent bowling pegged Billericay back with Sharukh's second spell much more accurate than his first, Ali continuing to bowl well and Jag being economical throughout. Billericay showed little ambition in going for the win, losing their 7th wicket in the last over while less than 20 short. A good all round performance in our first League match at the new ground.
