Match report Fives won the toss and batted on an all weather strip at Coopers Coburn School. Young Ashish showed a maturity beyond his years and when he was out Daniel Wright entered for only his third game in five years. Despite having hardly faced in his previous two outings he soon began to strike the ball very hard. He received good support from skipper Atul making it a good day for the Gandhi family. Unfortunately the rest of the batting was less successful and Daniel carried his bat for a very fine 106 not out, his first ton, but leaving 3 of the 52 overs unused.

Defending a below par 228, Fives, already missing the presence of the injured Uncle Yaz, suffered the early loss of opening bowler Shahrukh to injury. Uriel stepped in to finish the over and bowled his best spell of the season getting prodigious inswing but no luck. Once again, catches went down and it took the introduction of spin from Sam Callaghan and Irfan Sadiq to stem the flow. Both bowled well with Sam not having much luck. So far this year vice captain Uriel had been having a 'mare with dropped catches but he finally held a good one which we hope will break the spell. Irfan, aided by two catches from the aged Rotsey, bowled with skill and variety and ended with his best figures for the Club of 4-66. In the end Upminster got home by 4 wickets with 2 overs to spare.
