Match report Saturday saw the return of the Three Musketeers, Lewis, Chirag and Joe, to Fives playing ranks. All had been at Uni and were keen to get going again. Chirag and Joe opened the bowling and while Joe had trouble after a long lay off, running in to a strong gusty wind, Chirag bowled an excellent unbroken spell of 10 overs downwind and was unlucky to go unrewarded. All three fielded exceptionally well and helped raise the standard of fielding considerably. Lewis bowled their star batsman, captain and opener to get a breakthrough and with Uncle Yaz purveying his usual mix of crafty dibbly dobblers Brentwood were stopped in their tracks. The left arm spin twins, Atul and Saqib, then ran through the middle and lower order picking up five between them before new boy Raheel came on. Prevented from bowling earlier by a delayed arrival, he looked very promising and yorked Brentwood's last man after roughing him up a bit.



The Fives reply was powerfully led by Saqib who hit thunderous shots to all parts of the ground. He was ably supported by the consistent Shahrukh and the stand came close to the record for the opening wicket of 174 set in 1998 (see http://fivesandheronianscc.hitscricket.com/pages/page_9170/RecordPartnerships.aspx ) before Saqib perished close to his ton.



This second win of the season puts us in 7th place out of ten in the League, two points behind Walthamstow but well clear of the relegation zone.
