Match report Fives bowled first on a slightly damp track with Roger bowling as well as ever, and Arun finding his best rhythm of the season, if still a bit short some of the time. Shahrukh made an inauspicious start to his wicket keeping career by dropping a straightforward catch in Arun's first over but them made up taking four good catches. (Will Asim regain his keeping spot when he returns???) Wickets fell steadily with Chirag picking up 4 cheaply and Upminster were all out for 90 on a pitch were 140 looked a par score.

Faced with 55 minutes batting before tea, Fives were complacent in the extreme with no real batting order or plan. Upminster's Sponge Bob purveyed his slanting inswingers to good effect and, despite warnings to the incoming Fives batters, he clean bowled five of them with excellent inswinging yorkers. Shahrukh, normally the rock of Fives batting, was tired from 2 hours keeping and the day's fasting, and perished to an airy swing. After 35 minutes, Fives were 19 for 8, surely a League record for us. Chirag and Roger then batted sensibly to tea when we needed another 45 to win, not too stiff a target. However, Chirag got over-excited with his running, perhaps thinking Lewis was at the other end rather than Roger. When he was sent back and failed to make his ground, Roger was left with the limping Arun, batting with a runner. Having hit one mighty six over mid-wicket he top-edged another short one to dash hopes of an unlikely victory.
