Match report Confronted by the best bowling attack seen all season Fives struggled to 11 for 2 off 9 overs. While Clive held fast at one end breezy cameos (all too brief) by Rotsey, 29 off 20, and newcomer Moshin, son of the famous Uncle Yaz, 11 off 7, attempted to release the pressure. With Simon gloving a second ball lifter to the keeper Fives were in a parlous position of 67 for 5. Careful rebuilding by Clive and Graham Sibley started to repair the damage. Chirag, making a welcome return to the team, applied himself well as the bowlers started to tire and with help from Amjad and Maddo took us towards respectability. With 7 runs required for another 2 bonus points, Ali seemed to be trying to get them all with one shot, succeeding only in threatening a nearby light aircraft before presenting a catch to deep mid off.

The total was probably 40 short of a par score on an indifferent strip but Ali, determined to make up for his rash batting, bowled superbly starting with 3 maidens followed by a wicket maiden. Various bowling changes were tried but with a target of only 143 it was hard to create pressure on the batsmen and Upminster reached their target in the same number of overs as Fives had batted.
