Match report Fives responded to losing the toss with their best performance of the year to date in the field. After a wayward first over of the season, Nichael Ayrton settled in to bowl well while at the other end Moshin, son of Uncle Yaz was beating the bat regularly and conceded only 5 from hir first four overs. The fielding was lifted by consistently high performance by Michael and Nick Tester who were both outstanding with Michael taking a fine running catch. Maddo and Uncle Yaz wheeled away with their customary economy and Benfleet were restricted to 171-7 off 52. One notable result of the energy in the field is that the 52 were completed in oinly 2hrs 32 mins leaving over two hours plus 20 overs to chase.

The skipper made the mistake of inviting Clive to bat as slowly as he liked so long as we won. He responded with three quick fours, for once outpacing Uncle Yaz who then gave in to the temptation to match Clive with an uncharacteristic heave across the line. Clive, thus chastened, went into his shell and notched up an enormous number of dot balls. With Commander Greene carefully compiling his fourth League 50 of the season a stand of 129 in 27 overs ensued securing the match. A good win and a fine all round team effort!
