Match report Fives were put in by top of the table Upminster at Woodford Wells on a flat track taking some spin. With Clive and Vinay meeting out early punishment to the seamers, a total of 200 looked well on the cards, however, the introduction of the spinners really bogged down the scoring rate. A few lusty blows from the skipper got things moving but when Clive temporarily retired hurt with a nosebleed from a top-edged sweep there was a flurry of wickets at the other end to O'Dowd's extravegent left arm wrist spin. Clive's return to the fray led to renewed hopes of reaching 200 but he was understandably out of sorts and the innings closed at 188.

Fives response with the ball was excellent. Ali, returning after a long lay-off with his injured knee, mixed 4-balls with unplayable ones while at the other end Faisal, in only his second match, bowled a superb line around off stump and hit the stumps twice in his first six over spell. Ali bowled two at the other end to reduce Upminster to 54 for 4. While Ali continued manfully down the hill picking up two more wickets, Maddo bowled their number 7 to leave Upminster at 89 for 6 and Fives with hopes of a glorious win to end the season. However, Upminster proved why they are worthy champoins and as they fought back hard Fives managed to drop three catches, none easy but holding 2 out of 3 would have won the match.

Noteworthy efforts were Clive's 70 and nosbleed, Ali's 15 overs on the trot (will he be able to walk tomorrow???) and a very tidy effort by Faisal who looks to be a very promising young bowler.
