Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Won by 70 runs

Match report A reasonably strong Fives third team took on Bentley (who were a mix of 2-4s players) in their first game at their new home Whitbread. Matt fell early as there was a bit of low bounce with the new ball but 12 year old Rahul and 14 year old Kishen rebuilt taking the score to 43 off 14 overs before Rahul was run out taking a risky second. Dan Scoulding joined Kishen (high class 80) and both worked the ball around well, building a solid platform as Fives reached 117 off 29 before Dan lost his head and skied one. Tino coming in at 5 batted well for 35, as he stepped on the gas as Fives helped by a quick 40 run partnership between Neary and Apps at the end set the oppo a challenging 226 off their 45 overs. Tino and Rodg opened the bowling but Bentley got off to a brisk start racking up 30 off the first 4 overs before Rodg had their attacking opener LBW. Once Sooty came on first change there was only going to be one winner as he strangled their middle order. Bentley ended up on 155 with Atul picking up 3 wickets in a very miserely spell. It was a good work out against a good bunch of lads. The 3s look in good shape this season.
