Match report
We lost the toss and were put in to bat. We scored 135 – 4 and then restricted West Essex to 83. Wow!!!
There were many stand out performances, but it was the team effort that made everyone watching you so proud. Nyle went in at 3 and hit quality shots all around before being retired on 26 NO, bowled his two overs and fielded really well and in control. Nyle went back in near the end and finished on 34 NO. Louie opened and scored 22 before unluckily being given out to a ball which came off his bat or pad and touched his stumps. Louie bowled his two overs and fielded brilliantly stopping even the hardest shots. Patrick went in at 4 and hit out, including a big six before being run out, on 23, going for a second run – unlucky because it was their only throw to hit the wicket all evening. Patrick was great behind the stumps and only allowed 3 byes in the match, taking a important catch off Adam’s bowling. George opened the batting and the bowling. It was a terrific evening for George as captain. He was desperately unlucky to strike the first two balls really well but unfortunately they both went to fielders, the second being caught brilliantly at knee height by the bowler. Out for nought and we were 0 – 1. George bowled really well and was millimetres away from taking at least two wickets from his 3 overs. Adam went in at 6 and was caught behind for 0 off their demon leg spinner, who looked unplayable. Adam bowled his two overs near the death under great pressure. They scored only 3 runs off his first over. His second was a wicket maiden – the best bowling of the night from either team! Terrific, Adam !
Sanjana was brilliant all evening. She batted at 5, scored 14 runs quickly and did some great backing up and running. She then bowled three accurate overs helping to restrict their total. She also fielded really well and took a hard catch only to find it disallowed – off a no-ball.
I think you all know how well you played as a team last night. Well done to you all. Our next match is on 16 December at 6.15pm against South Woodford B.
Area for improvement – the umpire was quite kind to both teams for wides. We could do with bowling a bit more accurately. (Our calling this week was much better, well done)
Thanks again to all the Mums and Dads for your support.
Sanjana is this week’s MAN/GIRL – OF – THE – MATCH. Well done Sanjana!
