Match report
Hi All,
You did it again!!!!
A great result and our highest score to date. Fives 157 – 3, Loughton B 109 – 3!
This felt quite a strange match. Louie and George opened and despite not getting many off the bat we still managed 23 for 0 off 3 overs. We had two run outs (George and Sanjana) and then seemed to get into a pattern of scoring with Louie and Patrick at last putting their fielders under some pressure. Louie retired on 26 and Patrick was joined by Harry and they piled on the runs quickly. Patrick retired on 26 and Nathan went in. Harry and Nathan scampered for everything but Nathan was caught and Patrick returned to finish off the innings with Harry. They were both unbeaten at the end Harry on 28 and Patrick on 31 with a few extras boosting the score.
Harry and Louie were our opening bowlers. They were very tidy and Harry picked up two wickets in two balls and Patrick took an excellent catch behind the stumps. Louie took a wicket and we looked to be in for a very early night. Then Loughton started to put us under pressure. Some of our fielding was untidy at times but we were trying to stop everything and didn’t lack bravery. George and Sanjana bowled well but Loughton knew they were short of runs and were hitting out. Despite their best efforts we were containing them and with every passing over they were getting further behind the run rate. Nathan and Harry bowled the last two overs and Loughton only managed 14 runs off them.
I think we have played better than we did tonight but as a team we are very strong. Louie played his first sport for a couple of months, having broken his ankle playing rugby. He did brilliantly to run with pain still apparent.
The decision on the man – of – the – match was difficult again – Louie scored 26 and took a wicket( on one leg), Harry scored 28 and took 2 wickets and Patrick top scored with 31, took a catch and kept wicket excellently again.
Congratulations to Patrick our Man – of – the – Match!
We only have one more match this indoor season against Frenford B on 2 March at 6.15 pm – arriving at 5.45pm for some practice beforehand.
Well done tonight and thanks again for the support of all the Mums and Dads.
