Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Lost 59 runs
Match report
Fives and Heronians 2nd team through away a great chance to open their season with a win. South Wood ford won the toss and decided to bat. Coleman made an early breakthrough which brought Paul Middleton to the crease who started to take the initiative away from Fives, when Middleton was well held by Britton on the boundary for a rapid 64,Fives started to bowl in the right places and backed up by some good fielding managed to bowl South Wood ford out for 207, when 280 plus looked very much on. Wheeler finished with 4 wkts, Coleman 3 wkts and Dustan 2 wkts.
Fives had 1 hour fifty minutes plus 20 overs to knock the required runs off. O,mahoney soon departed with the score on 5, this brought Britton to the wicket who made batting look easy against a good bowling attack, ably backed by Braithwaite the pair took the score to 88-1 before Britton played a rash shot and was caught yet again at mid off. Ben looked in great nick and should have gone on to a bigger score. After Britton departed the Fives batting never looked in control of the situation and subsided to 148 all out. The south Woodford attack deserve some credit for the consistent line and length they bowled, but the Fives batsmen did not help themselves, with some irresponsible batting.
