Match report Having finally won the toss on another blazing hot day Fives took first use of a dry wicket. Stow skipper confounded the Fives openers by giving the new ball to his 13 year old daughter to lob down a few leggers. Several full tosses were played carefully to the fielders before Tony Teece latched on the basics and clubbed a couple straight back over her head for four. After his departure the momentum was maintained by Paul Surry and then Tom Kerr while Hamad compiled a very sedate 43 off 111 balls. Late acceleration came from Adrian Palmer's first 50 for the club taking us to 236 for 5 off 52. Fives express but sometimes wayward opening attack of Amrit Ryatt and Matt Lewsey tore into the opposition supported by aggressive field placing. Amrit ripped out the first 3 by the 5th over but was plagued by no-balls ending up conceding 17 and a couple of wides for good measure. He also managed to injure Stow's opener who batted through the rest of the innings almost one handed. Ed Murphy bowled a tidy spell without luck finding the edge a number of times. Matt Lewsey bowled increasingly well but without managing the straight full length of the previous week which brought him 6 wickets (5 bowled.) While the trusty Bob trundled away up the hill to bag 2 - 31, experiments to dislodge Stow's slogger with Adrian Palmer and Hamad Sayyed resulted in 38 runs from 4 overs between them. Both were troubled by the deep footmarks left by Matt and Amrit. Once Bob had had the slogger expertly stumped by Tim Nash, Stow gave up all interest in winning despite needing only 60 off 14 overs with 5 wickets left and blocked out for the draw.
