Match report This match proved to be a one-sided battle.

We had only 5 players. Old Parks looked to be the strongest all-round team in the league that we have seen. They won the toss and decided to bat. Both their openers retired undefeated and despite us bowling and fielding well we could not contain this batting line-up. Harry took one wicket with Nyle taking the catch off the netting. All their batsmen were accomplished and they scored 152. There were relatively few extras and Patrick did well behind the stumps.

Sanjana and Nyle opened the batting and found it hard to score runs off hostile fast bowling complemented by sharp, excellent fielding. Sanjana played straight and made some good shots before being bowled by a fast in-swinging Yorker. Nyle battled on and was joined by Patrick. They both resisted excellent bowling before Nyle was bowled. We were not scoring many runs. Harry joined Patrick and, first ball, would have been decapitated if he had not brilliantly hooked the no-ball for a run, which he hit so hard off the wall it was fielded on the other side of the pitch. Harry was also bowled .Sid joined Patrick and our resistance continued – we did not give up – and kept the score ticking along. Sid was playing well and was unlucky to play on, getting the very slightest touch to remove a bail (we don’t usually have them in this league). Patrick was last man standing and batted to the end of the 12 overs. He did have a purple patch in the second to last over hitting 3 consecutive straight drives for 4s and ended up 22 NO. We scored 64 for 4.

We were beaten by an excellent team and played fantastically to fight them all the way to the end – bruised but unbowed!
