Match report First match on the road for the season, the seconds were looking to pick up much needed away points at the Patmore Memorial Sports Ground. Batting first on a pitch with a bit of moisture, Fives began in steady fashion posting an opening stand of 72 runs.
Looking to build from this handy partnership, Doig fell for 43 in the 24th over. Set up for a decent score, aiming to put Wickford under pressure we managed only to fade and be all out for 166 in the 51st over. Dissapointing but still in the game. Highlight was Allum's clever innings of 68, a well deserved knock after just returning from Turin Brakes sellout tour 'Down Under'.
Wickford attacked from the word go and were able to sustain this momentum to chase down our score with the loss of only two wickets.
Spin was called for early and the pick of the bowlers was Coleman with 1-33 off 11 overs as conditions improved as the pitch dried out.
A true highlight of proceedings was the outfield catch by Greg Summers.
4 bonus points were picked up and the team will be looking to post a big win at home in the next round. The vibe is good and a win on Saturday will help consolidate our position in the League.
