Match report
Fives won the toss and inserted the opposition. After the first 8 overs, it appeared to be the wrong decision, with Epping going along at over 5 runs an over, without the loss of a wicket.
Andre then removed their skipper, which started the steady fall of wickets, of which Shahrukh Irfan was at the heart of, taking all five of the following wickets to fall, clean bowling four of them. Guess he did not want to rely on his fielders holding any catches.
Shahrukh finished with a 6 for, a wonderful effort.
Our reply ot off to a flying start with Saqip at one end, making hay. Shahrukh did not fare as well with the bat, as he did with the ball, lobbing a simple catch to deep cover. Roger came then came and went in no time, to a plum as you would wish to see LBW. This brought Richard Tootel to the crease, who with Saqip took the score to over the hundred mark, I cannot remember a forward defensive shot being played between them. They both went on to score 49.
Chris Rotsey, then rolled back the years, with shots all around the wicket, scoring a brisk 46 in no time at all, Jack Dennis provided the support at the other end, showing a great deal of maturity in his batting.
I am pleased that Jack was there to see us through,to the very end.
This win was due to the all round efforts of the entire team, with one or two outstanding individual performances, namely Shahrukh, Saqib, Richard Chris and Jack.
