Fives won the toss and chose to bat, on a belter of a batting strip.
losing two quick wickets for 12. was not part of the script. Shahrukh Irfan and Jack Dennis then put together a 192 partnership for the 3rd wicket, which was full of thrilling stroke play and not a lot of running, as Shahrukh appeared knackered from the very first ball, understandable.
Jack fell for 79, unfortunately when looked well set to score his maiden first century for the club, Shahrukh went on to complete a well-deserved century.with an innings of 112 not out
Our innings of 253 for 4, was by far our best batting performance of the season.
Sheffield’s innings got off to a solid start, with chances being missed to break their opening partnership at various stages, the breakthrough finally came with the score on 83 and enabled Portia to open her account for Fives in senior cricket. The entire Sheffield innings was one of missed opportunities as far as Fives were concerned, with 7 catchable chances being spilled.
Sheffield reached their target in the last over of the final 20, with six wickets down. well done to them.
Our Fielding was very poor, for the first time this season and can only be improved upon.
Portia showed good promise for the future on her debut in the senior team,
Jack, was once again outstanding with the bat.
Shahrukh, showed for the first time this season, what he can do with the bat.
