Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Saturday 4th XI v Buckhurst Hill on Sat 17 Aug 2013 at 1300
Match was Drawn

Match report Fives won the toss and elected to bat, on what looked to be a flat track.
Fives got off to a slow start and soon lost an early wicket.
The inning gained momentum when Roger game to the crease, hitting 22 from 24 balls received, anyone would have thought he was trying making up for all those instances, where he was late for the start of a match. Meanwhile the star of the match Paul Davis, was there at the other end playing himself in. Jack Dennis was soon to join Paul at the crease, the pair played steadily at first, with Paul always in Jacks ear, providing encouragement.
The pair stayed together until after the drinks break, with Jack making an accomplished 35, Paul then went into overdrive and got a well-deserved first ton for the club, (many more to come) mark my words. Pauls innings of 113 was well constructed, showing aggression when the bad balls came his way, and a straight bat, to the good balls when necessary. It was a beautiful innings to watch
Five’s innings eventually ended on 231-9, against the league leaders, who have swept all before them this season, it was a very satisfying total.
BHH, reply was brisk at first, before losing their first wicket, Losing their first wicket seem affect BHH, however, it inspired Fives bowling and fielding, which was on a par with anything that Fives have achieved in the field this season. BHH wickets kept on falling at regular intervals, with Paul and Roger and Andre at the fore. It was obvious after the loss of a few more wickets that BHH was playing for the draw, which they eventually achieved
Paul Davis went on to claim 3 wickets, on top of his 113, scored earlier in the day; it was a terrific effort from Paul, resulting in his man of the match performance.
Fives just ran out of overs and were unable to claim the 2 remaining wickets, which would have ensured 25 points and our survival in this division for next season.,
Securing 11 point off the league leaders was a pretty good effort, by all.
