Fives and Heronians Cricket Club Won by 82 runs

Match report On a sunny Saturday afternoon, perfect weather for playing cricket really, Five won the toss and chose to bat, in what could be classed as a season defining game, against our closest rival, who were also fighting for survival in the league.

Fives innings got off to a rapped start, with Paul Davis looking in imperious form, scoring a quick fire 25, before loosing his middle stump to the ball of the morning

Richard Tootell and Roger Brathwaite then put a second wicket stand of 91, which enable Fives to reach the drinks break with 150 runs on the board for the loss for 2 wickets.
Jack Dennis and Roger then enjoyed another good partnership before the flurry from Andre, enabling Fives to declare on 266-6 in 43.5 overs.
Richard, Roger and Jack all scored good fifty’s. The highlight of the innings has to be Chris Rotsey’s 6, over square leg, which ended up with the ball being lost, (he has asked me to add).

Parks innings, was never really allowed to get going, with Omar Cayir nipping in for 3 early wickets, having opened the bowling with Roger.

Parks lost wickets at regular intervals, due to good bowling and our fielders holding the catches and were never in with a chance of winning the game; the final wicket came with the last overs remaining.

All members of the team contributed in this very impressive win,which was very pleasing and has hopefully enabled us to remain in this league, come next season.

With his very first spell of opening the bowling for the 4th XI, in such circumstances, the man of the match award goes to Omar Cayir.
There were many other good performances throughout the side also, too many to mention, however Omar’s opening burst, was the springboard required, enabling Fives to go on and eventually win the game.
