Match report
With some intrepidation a very young, except for 2 U16's (U15/U14) Fives side took on Hornchurch in the Essex Matchplay.
A magnificent catch by Marwa removed their opener for 1 and the team was uplifted instantly. Removal of the second opener and No.3 by catches from Gandhi and Batt and then Chinaloy bowling No.4 had Hornchurch on 37 for 4. All before captain KP even turned up !!
Fine bowling further reduced the Hornchurch batting line up. A fumble by Batt tempted the Hornchurch batsman into a quick single and promptly run out by KP.... it was a set play !!
Not wishing to miss out captain KP put himself on for one over and a big swing shot the ball skyward towards mid on ... as it descended out of the sun there was Sanjana to take an amazing catch ... big brother beaming all over his face !! This had removed Palmer who scored a good 41 runs. Hornchurch's batting were then cleared up and Fives were set a total of 118 to win.

KP and Batt opened the innings with the captain flashing the opening ball towards 2nd slip who made a great effort to take the catch but it was just to fast and hard.
KP took a very aggressive role hitting the ball to all parts of the ground while Batt ably supported at the other end. KP tempted the fielders with a couple of very high/hard catches on the boundary, but survived to hit a good 72 and Batt 33 to wrap up a fine 10 wicket victory in just 17 overs.

A fine team performance built upon excellent catching/fielding and willingness to step up several levels, which gave the batsman a platform to build from.

MOM goes to overall teamwork and good spirit.
