Match report Fives and Heronians completed another excellent win in the ECB National Indoor competition on another Saturday evening in Chelmsford. After winning the toss and inserting Hadleigh (Suffolk), Fives got on top early on and Hadleigh were struggling at 30-3. Tanner applied himself well and, along with 21 wides, helped Hadleigh recover to a score of 96. Fives struggled to control the swinging ball at times and felt that they had let Hadleigh off slightly, but still knew that 96 was below par. Kay was the pick of the bowlers with 1-17.

The batting was simply excellent. Ballard and Edwards started off, sensibly working the ball into the gaps and running very well. Hadleigh also bowled too many wides and the pressure was never really exerted on the Fives batsmen. Ballard retired in about the 6th over and Norris took over. His 16 was accomplished and calm. Edwards then retired and that left Britton and Norris to finish the job in the 11th over. A comfortable win by 6 wickets.

We now move to the Area finals day at Canterbury on Sunday March 3rd. We play Sawbridgeworth in the first semi final, details to follow on the website.
