Match report The first league match of the season was a disappointing affair considering the strength of the team that took the field against Wickford.
We arrived to fond that the covers had leaked and one side of the pitch was soaking wet and the other side as dry as could be!

Shoab "called incorrectly" at the toss of the coin and the opposition captain asked Fives to bat fist.

What followed was a very rusty batting performance from the fives side with all the batters getting in and getting out! The only batters to show any level of fluency in their batting were Adrian Palmer (38) and James McKay (32). These two main contribution saw the Fives total upto 149 all out in a rain interupted innings.

A spirited performance with the ball and in the field made it difficult for Wickford to see the game home although if we had held our catches, it may have been a different story. Special mention goes to Rob Allum with bowling figures of 16-2-34-2.

This result still leaves the 2nd XI searching for their first win under the new captain, but if we bat better and show the same comittment and drive in the field, there is no reason why we should not be able to move onwards and upwards from hereon!
