Match report A close game of cricket that we should have won comfortably! The Fives skipper lost the toss (again) and Horndon elected to bat on an uncovered council wicket!

A good opening spell from Reggie (Andrew Coleman) and Shoab saw the oppostion tumble to 40 for 7 but an average display in the field coupled with the odd loose ball here and there saw the opposition reach 218 all out, although their main batsman being stumped by a country mile and not being given by their own player didn't help matters! Particular mention to Saul for bowling a fantastic spell in his first game of the season!

We batted indifferently and some poor shots made sure we lost regular wickets although the runrate was never a problem! The only batter to fall to the poor wicket was Saul who had that did actually ROLL!

Our hopes rested on Nick Rotsey's shoulder who scored a good 51 but then holed out to deep cover! The task became harder with each wicket falling and we were left to get 9 off the the 2 overs with Reggie and Mark Wheeler at the crease but a maiden over at that point left us with too much to do! We were 2 runs short of the oppositions total at the end - This time last year we would have rolled over and lost, but it is promising that we clung in their and didn't give Horndon 18 points! A win next week could see us move to top of the division!
